I have known Richard somewhere around 10 years. He was one of the very first members of my site at astronomyshed. We chatted a fair amount, be it about astro, canals, hawaiian shirts or me taking the piss about him being a veggie! We also met in real life several times.
In all of my 54 years (yes that may surprise some as i only look about 26) I have met and interacted with hell of a lot of people, I genuinely liked Richard, he was probably the most quirky, eccentric, positive person I have ever come across, and no doubt whatsoever he had the purest and most generous heart of anyone I have ever met, and I don't say that lightly.
The astro community has lost one of it's brightest suns today, may your star shine for many years to come Richard, because one things for sure, not a soul who knew you will easily forget you, and I know I am not alone when I say I am absolutely gutted, and more than a tear will be shed, the world lost a great guy today!
