Thanks Dave,
That does make complete sense once you start tilting over. Thankfully the ra bearings on this beasty are massive taper roller bearings and the fork sits on a shaft which is around 4" diameter.
I'm still getting into phd2 but it has been achieving around 0.6 arcsec rms error and I'm certain i can get better and that was with a lot of weight on.
