For things not so close up.

Wide Field from Triangulum Australe to Carina

Finally! After having the new Pentax K-500 on hand for several weeks, tonight I got the chance to try it out. There was the possibility of some auroral activity so I decided to give it a whirl. I have no idea if I caught any aurora and there is a town about 30 km south of here that is chucking up a fair amount of light. I do have green clouds but have to wait for the current auroral activity to die down before I decide what it is that I have captured.

I used a zoom set to 18mm and captured the area below the Pointers (Alpha and Beta Centauri), through the Southern Cross and past the Eta Carina Complex. Sorry Aardy but I didn't listen to you. I set the camera to ISO 51200 just to see what it could do. No NR, no darks, no bias, no flats. Just a bit of tweaking in ACR and resized for webby. Cheers.
