What!? With 8x40's?!!

While I wait for my scope to come home I spent an hour or so observing with my Opticron 8x40's which I primarily use for birding. What I saw under moderately light polluted skies 5 miles out from Camborne, Cornwall really, really impressed me as I've always struggled spotting some of these fainter objects from back home in Greater Manchester.

Easily visible was -

Galaxies M81, M82 & M51. (was amazed to see these through low power binos!)

Globular Clusters M3, M53, M13, M92, M5, M12 & M10.

and Open Cluster M44.

There are darker sites in Cornwall, of which I can't wait to observe from.

Well recommended is Cornwall and Devon of course (especially Exmoor's Dark Sky Park) for observing.
