Advanced Newtonian Collimation Idea

For the discussion of posted tutorials so as not to break up the threads. Just start a thread here with the same name as the tutorial.

TUTORIAL DISCUSSION

Why a tutorial discussion section? Well, if a person is posting a tutorial thread in segments, the tendency is for people to post questions in-between. This causes the tutorial to become convoluted.

So, if you post a tutorial, especially if you intend it to be several messages long (ie, in steps) please also post a thread here with" <name of tutorial> discussion" as the subject.

Thanks

If the laser point is 1cm outside the primary center, if you are bringing it in again then you are adjusting secondary, and you are using a single point laser to collimate a secondary which it cannot do. Hotech lasers are not the holy grail that some people seem to think they are. If something is wrong, you go back to the beginning and start again in this order :-

Center focuser
Center spider vanes
Center secondary to focuser
Collimate

Do you not have a cheshire where you can double check your results and have you tried a barlowed laser for the primary.
