The Backyard Astronomers Guide - Third edition

Probably the first book I tried and a must for newbies.

Covers everything from what to consider when buying, what exactly you are looking at and why, through to advance tips and techiques, so polar alignment stuff, digital astrophotography ( a very good section on equipment), etc and other good stuff as well as, and very importantly, explaining the jargon. As the authors, Terence Dickinson and Alan Dyer appear to practice what they preach this is a very practical book.
