I recently took some images of the Leo triplet at good sky conditions.
I recognized a very high level of noise which did really surprise me since the CCD was cooled to -20C.
The image shows how noisy it is.
It is a single 400s exposure with the ATIK383L+ at -20C with the Baader 2" L Filter using a 100mm F5.25 Triplet Apo.
Power came from 12V lead gel batteries and was constantly above 11.5V.
Any idea why the noise could be that high.
