size of filter

For those who can't decide if there's not enough day, or not enough night!

*** WARNING ***

Do not EVER look directly at the Sun through a telescope or in any other way, unless you have the proper filters and have been educated in their proper use. This can cause INSTANT eye damage, and remember, you only get ONE pair of eyes!

size of filter

Quick question as I am off to buy some solar filter film.

Going to get a 250mm by 250mm sheet.

Scope is the 200mm Newt and I will have to make my known filter cell to hold it. What is the best size for the filter hole??

Should I make it full aperture meaning I would use up the whole film in one go or can I still get the same results with a smaller hole for the filter film (leaving some spare in case it gets damaged). Or even using the little off axis hole on the end cap of the scope.

If full aperture makes it better than I will certainly do that. Really know nothing about solar observing so what to do it correctly from the start.

Any thoughts,
