Hi. I'm afraid I'm not very knowledgeable on all things astronomical but I'm interested in what goes on in the sky. On June 21st I decided to watch the solstice sunrise and went and stood on Rosemullion head in Cornwall (Lat. 50 6.56N, Long. 5 4.86W) and was surprised to see the sun rising over St Anthony Head (Lat.50 8.5N, Long. 5 0.95W). I thought the sun always stayed in the southern half of the sky so can anyone explain why it appeared to be rising to the north?
Thanks very much for any answers.
