Solar Imaging

Postby julian489289 » Mon Apr 04, 2016 3:53 pm

As part of my Astro Photography hobby, I want to start imaging the sun now.

I have an Explore Scientific 102 mm triplet APO mounted on a SW HEQ5 Pro mount. Have just made by Baader solar filter and will look to image through my ZWO ASI 120 MC-s.

As I do not have a permanent set up, I cannot polar align the HEQ5 the night before and leave it in position due to the thieving little cherubs around here! Is precise PA required for Solar AP or just a rough North set up?

I use Fire Capture 2.4 to record my footage thru' the 120 MC-s. Just wondering what settings members use like gamma, gain & exposure lengths etc when imaging the sun? What should I be doing different to night time AP?

:shedpower: :mexwave:
