Coma - Sensor tilt or Collimation?

Postby AstroChris » Sat Jun 27, 2020 6:59 am

Hey folks,

so after taking my fist test lights with the Canon EOS 700Da looking through my Skywatcher Explorer 150/750 PDS Explorer on top of my SW EQ6-R Pro I saw something strange with the stars.

You might see, that the stars at the image edges are elongates and blown out of focus - I expected that, because I haven't purchased a field flattener/Coma corrector yet.

But if you look even closer - the stars on the left seems to be quite round - whereas the stars on the rightern side seems to be quite out of focus. So there seems to be a side - to - side missmatch.

Question: Is this "normal" for coma? Or is there probably something off within my scope (like collimation? I checked the collimation on a star - that seemd to be quite perfect. Or can this be a sensor tilt within the camera?

Suggestions are welcomed!
Greetings
Chris
