Well as a VERY SUCCESSFUL Jupiter imager, I value you feedback.

I have had another session since this image and everything was utter rubbish at the end of it, getting very despondent with planetary imaging.
I am using a 2 x barlow and find focus a really difficult thing to do. I used AS for stacking previously but the last couple of times I seem to get a black box obscuring about 1/4 of the image, and I am not sure what is going wrong - I checked all my settings, so I ended up having to use Registax - ANY IDEAS WHAT IS CAUSING THIS BLACK BOX?

Well I suppose the seeing could have been awful this last session, so only thing I can do is keep trying I guess.

Carole

Not sure whats causing the black box carole never had it myself? but theres some great tutes on youtube which in the past ive used myself which could help!
Finding focus is one of the most difficult things to do in planetary, everybody struggles with it & its critical too if you want good detail, the conditions of late have not been helpful at all its been the worst year ever for bad seeing & will explain why your having a hard time! Don't give up Carole im sure you will master it, its deep sky imaging that scares me lol!
