my acme solar filter

Firstly, I dug out my old 1999 Amiens solar eclipse glasses (brought back great memories!)
One eye was damaged so I decided to cut off the good one and stapled it to a piece of card readily prepared with a hole cut out and in the correct size and shape for a cokin A filter holder

Then I tested it for size and fit

And finally screwed the filter holder onto the camera lens, the good thing about this is it'll fit whatever size lens you have quickly with the thread rings and if you cut the card to fit the Cokin lens cover it fits really tighly up against the lens

And there we have it, an acme solar filter which will fit any lens from 49mm to 62mm :-)

A little test I did yesterday with a sunset filter slotted in behind the make shift solar filter

not brilliant but then its not a great lens and it was around 3pm
