astro navigation made easy.

Hello, I am new here and no doubt this post is in the wrong place and for that I apologize. I am 82 and have got interested in astro navigation. I have started with a book called Astro navigation made easy but I am confused by what is on page 19. Why is there two suns and what is the footprint of a heavenly body. I have no doubt that when I find out it will be so obvious that I will feel bad about it but better to ask than live for ever in ignorance. Thank you all so much.
