Image Capture & Processing Software

Hi,

Are there any free bits of software I could try for capturing images and stacking to see how I get on with things? There used to be years ago when I used to try this but can't now remember what I used now from way back then. Any pointers would be nice.

Thanks

With the DSLR you can capture for free using Canon Utility software, simple and straight forward. However for a very small fee per year you can use APT which had loads of features.

Canon Utility is part of the software that comes with your camera,

I've used backyard eos for my cannon DSLR but now use APT. Both good. But prefer APT although I find taking flats simple on EOS. Still not sure how to do so on APT.

Last bits of software are
Phd2 for guiding
And Stellarium plus ascom and eqmod to control the mount

I used AstroTortilla with great success a as independent plate solver.

I could not for the life of me set up Astrotortilla hence trying APT with its platesolving which is a doddle to use.

I just followed this tutorial step-by-step and it worked:

I used AstroTortilla way before using APT and it worked and this is mainly why I stayed :))
