Astrofest is coming up soon I am going on Friday 8th, anyone planning to be there?
The presentations look interesting as is usually the case, I think I will take a portable stool so that I can sit down during the breaks, also sharpening the elbows to cope with the usual expo overcrowding :))

I have just spent the day at Astrofest.
I very much enjoyed the presentations, entertaining and informative. For me, the best talk was by Simon Porter, The Campaigne to catch 2014 MU69 Ultima Thule - great efforts which determined the strange bi-lobe geometry of this object by timing the occultation of stars by Ultima-Thule using amateur 16" dobsonians located in South Africa and Argentina - Wonderful enthusiasm and effort involved !

Some bigs names as well, Paul Davies for example talking about the detection of alien life.
Brian May and David Eicher gave an interesting 3D presentation on the Apollo Moon Landings and we had to wear 3D specs. Brian explained how many of these 3-D images were recreated from accidental imagery taken during the missions.

Although Modern Astronomy did not have a stall, Bernard was present on the Hitech Astro stand to meet up with customers, always good talking to Bernard !
